An exciting RORC Caribbean 600 has now concluded after unusually light winds plagued the race. DSK Pioneer won the coveted silver Asprey plate award for the Best Placed Swan within the RORC Caribbean 600. Swan 90, DSK Pioneer, owned by Danilo Salsi was the second yacht to cross the finish line in Antigua on the 25th February at 11:25:41. Danilo Salsi previously won the RORC 600 and Best Placed Swan Award in 2009. Swan 38, Dolfijn, owned by Richard Bamford was the overall leader in the race until friday night when the breeze died across the race course and caused Dolfijn and many other yachts to retire from the race. Swan 56, Noonmark VI, owned by Sir Geoffrey Mulcahy was also among the yachts to retire from the race. Danilo Salsi commented on the race ‘It was more Mediterranean than Caribbean because the wind was much lighter and the wind shadow effects are something that we have to deal with in the Mediterranean. It has been completely different to last year but we have enjoyed it as much. The 2nd RORC Caribbean 600 has been just as challenging but in a very different way’.
