The 2011 edition of the Swan Maxi Circuit will draw to a close in Porto Cervo at the Rolex Maxi Yacht Cup hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda from 5 – 10 September 2011. Following three successful and competitive regattas the defending champion, @robas, the Swan 601 owned by Gerard Logel is well placed to defend her crown. Second place is held by the Danish Swan 60, Vertical Smile, raced for the first season by her owner Peter Lerbrandt. Third place is held by Danilo Salsi’s Swan 90, DSK. Gerard Logel, defending champion, is quietly confident of retaining the stunning Swan Maxi Trophy for a third consecutive year, “We are going to try our best to retain the title, we have been putting in the time to train against the other maxis sailing at events such as Copa del Rey this this summer. We have been changing crew a lot throughout the different events which is hard and we had a slight issue with our genoa this season that has been rectified. The training has been so that we can repair any weaknesses so we are stronger next time, we are going to be as strong as possible at Porto Cervo”. The circuit stalwarts will be joined by three additional Swan Maxi’s in Porto Cervo, Marco Rudolfi’s Swan 80, Berenice, Paolo Scerni’s Swan 90, Kora 5 and Wendy Schmidt’s Swan 80, Selene.
