The fifth edition of Hublot PalmaVela, which constitutes the first event in the 2009 Swan Maxi Class Circuit, will take place from 15 to 19 April 2009. The inaugural year of the Swan Maxi Class in 2008 was a great success with the class rapidly expanding in stature, a feat which is expected to be built upon over this year's Class Circuit.
Since Hublot PalmaVela’s first edition in 2004, the regatta has quickly become established seeing competitors congregate from all over Europe. The 2009 edition is due to see over 180 entrants, representing 17 countries in total, reinforcing itself as a spectacular opening to the Mediterranean season. The Swan Maxi Class entrants, competing under IRC ratings, will enjoy exhilarating racing in the waters of Palma in the Mini Maxi and Maxi classes.
Winner of the 2008 Swan Maxi Class Circuit, Swan 80 Favonius, will be among the competitors at the regatta, joined by four additional Swan Maxi yachts; Swan 82 Grey Goose, Swan 80 Astro, Swan 68 Risktaker and Swan 601 @Robas.
Three further events following Hublot PalmaVela complete the 2009 Swan Maxi Class Circuit; Giraglia Rolex Cup, Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Les Voiles de Saint Tropez.
