The regatta, sponsored by Rolex, is organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in conjunction with the International Maxi Association (I.M.A). The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup will form the finale to the 2009 Swan Maxi Class Circuit and also the annual IMA Championship. The event will see the competing Swan yahcts return to their Rolex Swan Cup venue, Porto Cervo, Sardinia.
